Beach Weddings

A permit is not required to get married on the beach in the Town of Oak Island. Marriage licenses may be obtained from the Brunswick County Register of Deeds (http://rod.brunsco.net/ or (910) 253-2690).

Please remember that while you may have chosen a special place on the beach for your ceremony, the beach is a public area. You may politely request people to move, but please understand that they are under no obligation to do so. You should also check the tides and how your selected location is affected at high tide.

When choosing the location for the ceremony, please also keep in mind the allotted/available parking for your guests/visitors; all vehicles must be parked with tires off the roadway. You may contact the police department at (910) 278-5595 if you have questions about parking rules.

Items such as tents, arbors, etc. should not be placed on the beach and left unattended until 7 a.m. or later. Tents larger than 400 sq. feet will need to be inspected, and you may call (910) 201-8053 for more information. Click here for more information about beach rules (no glass containers on the beach, etc.).

Please remove all items, including chairs, canopy frames and trash when the ceremony/celebration is finished.
