Special Council Meeting Friday, June 29 at 9 a.m.

Town Council will have a Special Meeting on Friday, June 29 at 9 a.m. to discuss the following: Approval of Easement for AT&T Discussion of Draft Unified Development Ordinance Discussion of Right-of-Way Issues Discussion of Parking, paid parking Discussion of work on Pier Complex Closed Session to Consult with the Town Attorney on Pending Litigation and to discuss land acquisition pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3) and (5). Update on Wilmington Harbor dredging project

Information provided as of 6-25-2018: line to come ashore around 600 feet west of pier, dredge to start pumping June 28th (am). Pipe will be laid and heading east towards McGlamery St. and tie into that dune line. Mosquito spraying schedule for this week

In our continued efforts to manage mosquito populations, the Town of Oak Island Public Works Department will be spraying tonight (June 20) in Zones 1 and 2.  We will also spray tomorrow night, June 21, in Zones 3 and 4. The zones are the same as our yard debris pickup zones. Zone 1 – Middleton Street to West End of Island Zone 2 – NE/SE 1st Street – NE/SE 40th Street Zone 3 – NE/SE 79th Street – NE/SE 41st Street Zone 4 – Crowell Street – Yaupon Way all all areas off island within town limits The mosquito spray we use is BioMist 3+15 ULV. Information ... Yard Debris collection running behind schedule

Yard Debris Pickup – the Town of Oak Island provides yard debris collection on a monthly rotating schedule for our residents. This service is for RESIDENTIAL debris ONLY – contractors must dispose of their own debris. Due to mechanical failures and heavy rains, we are running behind schedule. We ask for your patience while we work diligently to catch up. We WILL get to EACH zone in order, however, we are not on our set schedule right now. New traffic signals for Middleton/Oak Island Dr. during bridge closure

From NCDOT: DOT has developed a plan for the intersection of Middleton and Oak Island Drive.  We are planning to install protected left turn green arrows for all left turn movements at the intersection. These new signal heads would provide the opportunity for folks to make the left turn under protection of the green arrow unopposed from oncoming traffic.  The new signal heads would also provide the flashing yellow arrow for folks to make their move if the left turn driver saw a sufficient gap in the oncoming traffic.
