Themed Camps 

Galaxy Quest Camp: June 15th–21st………………………………..………..9am-2pm

Ages 6-13

Let the countdown begin! As we spring into space we’ll make many stops along the way. Trip stops include: Ingram Planetarium, Flip N Fly, and Planet Fun.

 

Down on the Farm Camp: June 22nd - 26th………………………………………….9am-2pm

Ages 6-13

Learn what it’s like to live on the farm as we visit 3 different farms around our area this week. We’ll even pick our own strawberries enjoy homemade ice-cream this week. Trips stops include: Horse Play Farms, Greenland Farms, Lewis Farms

 

Splish Splash Camp: July 6th - 10th………………………………………9am-2pm

Ages 6-13

Cool off and learn about fish and other marine mammals! Trips include Ft. Caswell, Jungle Rapids, and Ripley’s Aquarium

Come with Oak Island Parks and Recreation this week as we hop on board Blackbeard’s Pirate Cruise, take a pirate walk in Wilmington, and learn about pirates at the NC Maritime Museum. Trips include Pirate Ship Cruise, Pirate Walk in Wilmington, NC Maritime Museum (Pirate Program)

Welcome to The Great Outdoors. In this camp not only will you get to explore the outdoors from the ground level but from the tree tops as well! Trips Include: Go Ape Jr. Treetop Adventure, Wilmington Railroad Museum, Airlie Gardens.

 

Mystery Fun Week: August 3rd-August 7th……………………………...9am-2pm

It’s a mystery! This week will be full of mystery & fun camp activities and trips! Trips include: Wonderworks, Fun Warehouse, and the last field trip will be a mystery!

 

Island Saltwater Safari/ Nature Camp: August 3rd-August 7th…………………………...…….9am-2pm

Ages 8-12 $65/Residents & $75/Non-Residents & Island Visitors

Join us for a fun filled week at Oak Island Nature Center and learn about the coastal habitat in our area. Trips include Lake Waccamaw alligator viewing, Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter Rescue and wild birds and NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher. All campers will meet at Nature Center. (Corner of NE 52nd & E. Yacht Dr.)

 

Athletic Camps

Pickleball Camp (Youth): June 22nd – 25th …………………………..……9am-11am

Ages 8-12

Join a fun mini-camp where the skills of table tennis, badminton and tennis are combined. Oak Island Beach Pickler regulars will train our campers.

 

Fishing Camp: July 20th –24th………………………………………….9am-12pm

Ages 9-13

Youth will learn to fish in the coastal salt water of Oak Island. Learn different fishing skills such as: tackle basics, tying knots, cleaning fish, pier fishing and more. Campers are encouraged to bring your own rod but we can provide if needed. Campers will meet and be picked up at the Oak Island Recreation Center.

 

Tennis Camp: June 15th-18th, June 19th Rain Date………….… 9am-12pm

Ages 6-12 $70.00 /Residents &$80.00/Non-Residents & Island Visitors

Join our USPTA tennis pro Buck Thomas in learning how to play tennis. Campers will learn basic skills, court etiquette and shot making. Camp will be held at Oak Island Tennis Courts. Campers should bring their own racquet, plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat. *Friday serves as a make up day in the event of inclement weather.

 

Teen OKI Tennis Academy 2020: June 22 – 25th June 26th Rain Date……………..9am-12pm

Ages: 12-15

Join our USPTA tennis pro Buck Thomas in learning how to play tennis. Campers will learn basic skills, court etiquette and shot making. Camp will be held at Oak Island Tennis Courts. Campers should bring their own racquet, plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat. *Friday serves as a make up day in the event of inclement weather.

 

Golf Camp: June 22nd-26th………………………………………..8am-11am

Ages 9-16

Oak Island Par 3 Golf Course at South Harbour, and instructor John Winebar, will host campers with a love of all things golf. Campers will learn chipping, putting, club selection and golf etiquette. Course play is included. Players are encouraged to bring their clubs but is not required. Children in need of clubs should indicate so upon registration.

 

Skate Camp: July 27th– 31st .………………...……………………9am-2pm 

Ages 9-13

Get your gear and skateboards ready for summer fun! Learn the basics and master various levels of skateboarding. These will include trips to Skate Barn in Hampstead, Ogden Park in Wilmington, and Carolina Beach Skate Park. Campers will meet at Kevin Bell Skate Park.

 

Oak Island Soccer Camp: June 15- 19…………….9am-12pm

Oak Island Parks & Recreation is excited to welcome Pat Lawson from S. Brunswick High School to at Middleton Park as he brings his 20 years of playing and coaching experience as he leads the way in building lifelong friendships in the fun filled program packed with fun drills: practice to improve ball control, foot skill , games and more!

Jr. Fire Academy: June 15th - 19th……………………………………..8am – 12pm

Ages: 9 – 13

Adventurous boys & girls interested in the fire service will learn CPR, first aide, water safety, firefighting and rescue techniques, as well as learn about fire trucks, climb ladders, fight “fires” and much more!

 

Beachy Art Camp: July 6 -10th …………………………9:00am – 12:30-pm

Crystal King and Natalie Young, 6th grade teachers with S. Brunswick Middle School lead a brand new camp where nature & art comes together. Each day includes a new adventure of indoor and outdoor beach fun! *Campers will meet at Oak Island Ocean Education Center.*

Oak Island Parks and Recreation is excited to welcome Dale Oehler in leading our new lacrosse camp. Dale is S. Brunswick HS head coach and brings over 25 years of coaching and profession level experience as campers learn stick technique, passing skills, ball handling and fun games and so much more!

 

Oak Island Soccer Academy: Aug 3rd– 7th…………………..…………9am-11:30am

Oak Island Parks and Recreation is excited to welcome Randy Young from South Brunswick High School to the Oak Island Soccer Camp at Middleton Park. All Mixed Up Sports: August 3rd – 7th……..……………………9am – 12:30pm

Join Crystal King and Natalie Young of S. Brunswick Middle School for a week filled with various sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, kickball, tennis and cheer before ending each day at OKI Splash Pad. Children bring appropriate gear for day (shin guards, tennis racket cleats, etc) *Camp will meet at Middleton Park.*

Campers will be introduced to the fun of sailing through classroom education and sailing in Dutchman’s Creek. Learn to “ride the wind” in youth sized Optimist dinghies. Campers will learn boating basics, rigging, right of way rules, points of sail and sailboat maneuvers. *Must be able to swim*

420 Dinghies sail camp is open to those campers who have completed at least one year of sail camp, and have mastered the basic sailing skills from regular sailing camp. *Must be able to swim.*
