Recreation Center: Available All Year

Location: 3003 E. Oak Island Dr.

Mondays-Thursdays: 6:30am-8pm, Fridays: 6:30am-6pm, & Saturdays: 9am-2pm

Connect with friends and neighbors at Oak Island's centrally located Recreation Center! This facility is home to a fitness room that features both cardio, and free weight equipment, for both island residents and guests. The Recreation Center is also host to numerous club groups, art groups, craft groups, active and passive game groups that are open to the public. Various fitness classes are held throughout the week, and are open to all residents and visitors. Not sure where you fit just yet? Stop by the main office to speak with a team member for all recreation registration, as this facility welcomes all to discover island inspired programs and events.

Nature Center: Open Memorial Day-Labor Day

Location: Corner of NE 52nd St. & E. Yacht. Dr.

Take in views of the Intracoastal Waterway from the deck of the Oak Island Nature Center, or get "hands-on" learning about coastal conservation with local volunteers. Whether you are looking at scales under a microscope, or searching for birds with center binoculars, the center is filled with educational opportunities. Visitors learn about the various life cycles of coastal animals that make their homes in the near by canals, marshes, and waterways, before relaxing at the nearby picnic table and fishing tee.

Ocean Education Center: Open Memorial Day - Labor Day

The Ocean Education Center serves a a wealth of information on all things "ocean"! Discover hands on activities such as coloring sheets, puzzles, and crafts. Visitors learn about sea turtles, sea shells, dolphins, sharks, fish, crabs, jellyfish, and much more before scooping up a Sea Turtle Protection Packet for an opportunity to earn a sea turtle conservation patch by completing a variety of conservation challenges!

Oak Island Splash Pad & Amphitheater: Open Seasonally As Weather Permits

Oak Island Parks & Recreation Department makes a splash each summer with the Oak Island Splash Pad! Installed in 2019, the splash pad is a water activity that features spraying water and water features. As part of the PARTF Middleton Redevelopment Project, the park's splash pad and amphitheater is the first step in offering multi-generational fun for our community.

Kevin Bell Skate Park: Open Seasonally As Weather Permits

Location: SE 48th St.

Located just steps from the beach, the Kevin Bell Skate Park is an open use facility that welcomes skateboarders and in-line skaters to show off their moves on skateboards, long boards-inline skates, and rip sticks. As a family friendly site, all participants are required to wear helmets, and are encouraged to wear protective equipment as appropriate.

Par 3 at South Harbour: Available All Year

Schedule: 8am-6pm Daily

OKI Par Three Golf Course at South Harbour is designed with a layout that all levels of golfers can play and enjoy. Whether playing with your spouse, your buddies or your grandchildren, your golf experience here will be both challenging and fun!
