Hands Across the Sand

May 18, 2019 @ 11:45 am – 12:15 pm
Beach at SE 46th Street (cabana area)
Mayor Cin Brochure and organizers of Oak Island’s Hands Across the Sand invite all to attend this year’s event on Saturday, May 18. Hands Across the Sand is an international event, initiated by a Florida restaurateur in 2010, to draw attention to and protest offshore oil drilling. This event is being held at all Brunswick County beaches and has drawn remarkable attendance in the past, with residents enjoying the wonderful sense of community felt in standing up for the coast. Organizers hope many will attend and bring family and friends to make this year’s event a strong message to those who would risk destroying the precious resources of the coast. Oak Island residents and friends will gather to hold hands, forming a line in the sand, for a clean energy future. The 30-minute gathering is scheduled as follows:
11:45 a.m. – meet at the Oak Island Cabana, SE 46th Street and Beach Drive
12 noon- join hands in solidarity for clean beaches
12:15 p.m. – disperse and enjoy your day….on our precious beach!
Organizers hope to set a record and create the largest gathering in North Carolina right here on Oak Island.
