Tree Planting in Middleton Park

The first of five live oak trees was planted in Middleton Park fields today – there will be 15 additional live oaks planted in other locations throughout the town, all thanks to a grant from the NC Forest Service. Mayor Ken Thomas, Mayor Pro Tempore Jeff Winecoff and Council member John Bach were on hand to help plant the first tree, along with members of the Oak Island Environmental Advisory Committee, who helped secure the grant. Aaron Reese, with the NC Forestry Council, and staff with the Town’s Public Works Department assisted with planting the trees.
