Dune Restoration project underway again

Work has resumed on the FEMA Emergency Dune Restoration Project. Crews began in the SE 58th Street area and will work their way west. They will be closing one beach access at a time in the area where they are working – please use another area of the beach when you see them working. There will be lots of dump trucks driving to and from the beach. The Parade kicks off at 2 p.m. which gives you plenty of time to check out the Holiday Craft Market at the Rec Center. Impress your friends and family with unique holiday gifts this season! Shop with local vendors from the Oak Island area from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies for shoppers will make this year’s Holiday Market especially sweet. Town Hall and the Rec Center will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. The convenience site on Airport Road will be open on a normal schedule on Friday -- from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (The site is for residents and property owners; furniture, electronics, etc. are accepted). Work resumes on FEMA dune project

Work on the FEMA Emergency Dune Restoration project resumes Friday (November 17). Crews will begin grading beach access points and sand placement should start Monday. The project will again start at SE 58th Street and work west. We will issue updates on the progress as the project moves forward. We are excited to get this project going again.
