Wine Tasting 2017

Earth Friendly Wines for Earth Day Fundraiser

Beach Preservation’s 18th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser, held at Island Way on Earth Day, featured twelve wines, nine of which were Earth-Friendly, certified to be organic, biodynamic or sustainable, in recognition of Earth Day values.

The silent auction, our largest ever, offered over 160 items for bidders, donated by 81 businesses and 47 individuals! Receipts from ticket sales and the record-breaking auction will allow us to make a major contribution to the Beach Preservation Trust Fund.

In addition to excellent hors d’oeuvres provided by Island Way and 15 other food contributors, Nancy Jo’s Homemade Bakery provided a sheet cake for dessert. We had a chance to get an update on beach nourishment projects and prospects from George Napier, Public Works Superintendent. George was also named Beach Preservationist of the Year and received the Royal Starfish Award!

The annual fundraiser is a celebration of the things we can accomplish together for Oak Island’s beach. Those who work for the beach all year, our members, thus get first chance to buy tickets that go on sale in February.
