Siren test today for nuclear plant — 10 a.m.

There will be a test of the Emergency Sirens located within the 10 mile area around the Duke Energy Brunswick Nuclear Plant today, November 8th, at approximately 10 am. The test will sound the sirens at their full volume for a period of three minutes.

This is an annual test that is conducted to ensure that the system is operating properly. Because this is a test, there will not be an Emergency Alert System Message following the sounding of the sirens. If this were a real event and the sirens were to sound, that would be an indication that you should tune to your local radio or TV station to receive the Emergency Alert System Message that would advise you of what action you should take.

Anyone with questions should contact the Duke Energy Brunswick Nuclear Plant at 910-457-2900.
