The Town of Oak Island Recreation Department

Athletics

The Athletics division on Oak Island offers something for everybody. Explore the beauty of the coastal environment with spring and summer canoe trips, enter your kids in one of the free youth fishing derbies, or how about enjoying some fun and friendship in a tennis league. It's all on Oak Island.

The team sports division of Oak Island Parks & Recreation Department operates under the philosophy of balanced teams, everybody plays, positive coaching and sportsmanship. Team sports include soccer, in-line hockey, youth softball, and 50 and over softball. Along with team sports the athletic department offers year-round special events such as the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick, sports camps, and Senior Games. A skate park facility on Oak Island offers both youth and adult skaters a place to go and perfect their skills. It is open March - December and offers various “how to skate” clinics, theme days, and yearly skate contests.

There are 2 baseball/softball fields, 2 soccer fields, 4 tennis courts, 2 outdoor basketball courts, and 1 t-ball/open space facility at Middleton Park.
